Residential Roadway Lighting Improvement

South Area

In 2021, the Chicago Department of Transportation entrusted City Lights, LTD. with the Residential Roadway Lighting Improvement – South Area project, recognizing our expertise in illuminating urban spaces. This endeavor encompasses the modernization of existing streetlights not only in downtown Chicago but also in its neighboring districts and around Midway Airport. To date, City Lights, LTD. has successfully deployed over 5000 LED streetlights, illuminating more than 150 blocks across Chicagoland. Our scope of work for the Residential Roadway Lighting Improvement project spans overhead and underground electrical construction, paving, ADA compliance, maintenance, concrete work, traffic control, and other tasks specified in the project plans. Notably, this initiative heralds the advent of the Chicago Smart Lighting Program, revolutionizing urban illumination management. By enabling remote control, this program stands as the largest controlled lighting system nationwide. Beyond technological advancement, our efforts underscore a profound commitment to environmental stewardship. The implementation of energy-efficient LED streetlights has not only resulted in substantial savings for the city but has also significantly diminished its carbon footprint, marking a significant stride towards sustainability.
